On Sunday May 6th Sunrise Council and the Sixth District will be hosting the Suffolk County Special Olympics Spring Games at Connetquot High School on 7th Street in Bohemia. We expect at least 700 athletes competing in our games and it is our responsibility as Knights to assist and feed all of the athletes. As you can imagine this task will require the efforts of many brother knights to set up, feed the athletes and assist in breaking the event down.
Our council will be participating in the opening ceremonies, marching with our council’s banner. If you would like to volunteer to help, please contact me and/or sign up online at www.sunriseknights.com Click on “Spec. Olympic Registration” tab in the left margin. Please let me know if you are planning to attend so you can join in the opening ceremonies.
The Memorial Mass for Deceased Members will be on May 15 at 7:30 pm in the Daily Mass Chapel. Please try to attend, to remember our deceased brothers.
A nomination committee for elections of officers for the next Columbian year was been formed and John Leonardo PGK FDD has been selected to chair this important committee. It is essential for the life of our council to have our members participate in its leadership. If you would like to run for an officer’s position or need additional information to decide, please contact John Leonardo at 737-5531.
Fraternally, Allen D. Gordon
